Crashes, Corrupted Files & Converting Files

  • Whenever I try to access online services, Money crashes with a GPF or IPF in KERNEL32.DLL.

You either have or have had CompuServe's WinCIM installed on this machine and the file RPAWINET.DLL is causing a conflict.  Link to Knowledge Base article Q175057 for details on how to correct.

  • I can't open any Money files.  Money reports that they are corrupted.  I am using Windows NT and Internet Explorer 4.

This is a known issue and is covered in IE4.TXT, which is the read me file that comes with Internet Explorer 4.

If you must reinstall Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3) after you install Internet Explorer 4.0, you must specify when prompted that you do not want it to overwrite any files that are newer.  After SP3 is reinstalled, carry out the following steps to update the registry:

1. Click the Start button, and then click Run.
2. Type the following: regsvr32 rsabase.dll
3. Click OK.

A conversion utility is available from Response Mechanics, Inc. which will convert the MYM file to .QIF format.  From there, it can be imported into Money (or Quicken, for that matter).  I have also seen a free converter called FreeMYMtoQuick  which has recently been released.
