More Than You Ever Wanted to Know About Me....
Well, I've lived a lot of places since 1964. I was born in
Alexandria, Louisiana and in my formative years, I lived in
Hendersonville, North Carolina (twice -- I attended Hendersonville High
School (1978-1982) the second time),
Luxembourg, where I attended the American School of Luxembourg (1969-1975),
Frankfurt, Germany, where I attended the Frankfurt International School
(1975-1977) (it was West Germany back then, of course) and
Wilmington, Delaware (Springer Jr. High School -- 1977-1978).
As
an "adult" I spent four delightful years at The
George Washington University in Washington, DC where I studied Economics,
Political Science & Accounting (go figure). While there, I moved three times
between
Washington, District of Columbia and
Arlington, Virginia. During my tenure at GW, I watched the tuition increase
by 22.5% for my Sophomore year, putting an amazing crimp in my education budget.
While at GW, I worked at Furash & Company, a
consulting firm specializing in the financial services industry.
And
amazingly, I was able to land a job after school and I worked for
Marriott International, Inc. from 1984 to
1998. With Marriott I've gotten a few more moves in (Atlanta, Georgia, San
Francisco, California, & Dallas, Texas).
In
1998, Marriott did a combined spin-off of my part of the company, along with a
merger with a former competitor's North American operations. The new
company will be called Sodexho, Inc., and you can learn more about our new
parent, Sodexho Alliance here.
Somewhere
in all of this, I got married to my charming & lovely wife,
Leesa (okay, babe, don't hit me, that date is June 3, 1994) and we've
managed to survive most of those later moves together. Together we share an
interest in the Olympic Games. When we met,
I lived in Atlanta,
and we had just been awarded the 1996 Summer Games. And of course, the next
Summer Games are in Sydney, Australia.
Since Lees' is Australian, she's excited about having the Olympics down under
for the first time since the Melbourne games.
